Nationwide support for the decisions taken by CCS under the Leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Traders across the Country will no longer engage in any trade with Pakistan
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has extended strong support to the bold and decisive steps taken by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
Announcing this today, CAIT’s Secretary General and Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk, Shri Praveen Khandelwal, declared that henceforth, Indian traders will not engage in any trade with Pakistan — which means a complete halt to all forms of imports and exports between the two countries by the trading community.
CAIT will officially adopt this resolution at its two-day National Governing Council meeting scheduled for April 25 and 26 in Bhubaneswar. The meeting will witness participation from prominent trade leaders representing almost all states of the country.
There is deep anguish and outrage among traders over this barbaric terrorist attack. Trade bodies across India have strongly condemned this Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and are expressing their anger and protest against terrorism at various locations.
CAIT National President Shri B.C. Bhartia and National Chairman Shri Braj Mohan Agrawal have jointly urged the central government to immediately sever all forms of trade relations with Pakistan. This is a time when the sovereignty and security of the nation must not be compromised. The trading community believes that Pakistan should be given a fitting reply on the economic front as well.
CAIT also appeals to all trade associations in the country to completely halt any kind of import or export trade with Pakistan and stand united with the government in the interest of national security.
India annually exports goods worth approximately $550 million to Pakistan, primarily including pharmaceuticals, sugar, and chemicals. In contrast, imports from Pakistan amount to only $3 million, mostly comprising agricultural products. During the first five months of FY 2024–25, India did not import anything from Pakistan, while exports during the same period stood at $235 million.
