Chalo Shahar Banayen” Campaign by Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal

With a vision to resolve the fundamental issues of the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency and to ensure maximum civic amenities across the region, MP Shri Praveen Khandelwal is launching a new initiative titled “Chalo Shahar Banayen”. Through this campaign, he aims to engage in direct dialogue with the local traders and residents to find logical and actionable solutions to various issues.

As part of this campaign, Shri Khandelwal has convened a meeting tomorrow evening at Malviya Smriti Bhavan, ITO. Prominent leaders of trade associations from Chandni Chowk, Nai Sarak, Chawri Bazar, Khari Baoli, Naya Bazar, Sadar Bazar, Kashmere Gate, and Daryaganj have been invited to attend.

Shri Khandelwal stated that in the first phase of the campaign, consultations will be held with the traders of Old Delhi. In subsequent phases, dialogues will be organized across all markets and residential colonies of the constituency to identify key issues and develop strategic solutions to address them. He also emphasized that to ensure that the benefits of all schemes launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi reach every individual in the constituency, services will be provided through CSC (Common Service Centres) of the Ministry of IT & Technology, Government of India.

This special initiative by Shri Khandelwal aims at holistic development and transformation of the Chandni Chowk constituency and will be implemented in multiple phases.

Proposed Program for the First Phase:
1. Meetings with Trade Associations:
• In-depth discussions with traders’ associations from key market areas such as Chandni Chowk, Khari Baoli, Daryaganj, Chawri Bazar, and Sadar Bazar.
• Collecting their issues, needs, and suggestions related to development.
2. Dialogue with RWAs (Resident Welfare Associations):
• Meetings with RWA representatives from major colonies and neighborhoods of the Walled City.
• Discussions on core civic issues such as roads, traffic, electricity, water supply, sanitation, parking, and loading-unloading zones.
• Understanding local expectations and setting priorities.
3. Joint Workshop:
• A collaborative workshop with both traders and RWA members.
• Finalizing collective suggestions for the improvement and beautification of the area.
4. Action Plan Framework:
• Preparation of a short-term and long-term action plan based on the inputs received.
• Structured execution strategy in a phased manner according to developmental priorities.
5. Public Dialogue & Participation:
• Ensuring continuous participation of local residents and traders.
• Making “public participation” a cornerstone of the development process.

Last week, Shri Khandelwal held a preliminary discussion with various trade bodies of Chandni Chowk. Tomorrow’s meeting is a continuation of that initiative. He also mentioned that since Old Delhi is fundamentally a commercial hub, ensuring ease of doing business and creating new business opportunities will also remain a top priority.
